Symptom
CarPlay starts, then closes or reconnects while music/navigation was already working.
Possible causes
Logs in #52/#72 describe a Bluetooth-to-Wi-Fi tunneled-iAP2 timeout after successful audio/video. #41 and #35 also show phone/OS-dependent reports. Radio interference alone is not a proven explanation.
Quick checks
- Note the elapsed time and export diagnostics immediately after the drop. Look for handoff timeout versus startup failure.
- Compare built-in hotspot and USB on the same phone/build, changing one setting at a time.
- Record whether opening the reversing/surround-view camera, rotating the screen or switching apps triggers the drop.
- Check a second iPhone only if available; preserve exact iOS versions instead of combining results.
Reported results & workarounds
#35 includes one 0.2.8 follow-up saying a song played about three minutes without disconnecting. That is short-session feedback, not a long-drive validation. #72 was asked to retest 0.2.8; no confirmed result is captured.
Version status
Open PR #89 proposes keeping the session through surround-view window changes. It is not merged or part of the reviewed release. Do not install unrelated forks solely on an assumed fix.
