DiPlay No Sound: Music, Navigation and Microphone Routing

Check which stream fails: all audio, navigation guidance only, or microphone input. Each has different evidence; changing volume alone may not solve routing.

Symptom

CarPlay is visible but sound stays on the iPhone, navigation is silent, or callers cannot understand you.

Possible causes

#40/#29 describe audio staying on the phone; #85/#86 describe navigation channel selection in 0.2.8; #1 describes robotic microphone input. Do not group them as one bug.

Quick checks

  1. Test music alone, a navigation prompt, Siri and a call separately while parked. Record which one fails.
  2. Check the iPhone’s active output and car volume/source. Confirm DiPlay microphone permission if Siri/calls are affected.
  3. Record the selected navigation stream setting. Vendor channels differ; do not assume every BYD requires one channel.
  4. Compare USB and hotspot on the same build. Export diagnostics, preserving the exact phone/firmware/version.

Reported results & workarounds

The source default navigation stream is 14, but #85/#86 report only 1–10 selectable in 0.2.8, with a need for 14 or 15 on their units. No confirmed general workaround or fix is available in the captured threads.

Version status

A closed no-sound issue does not establish a fixed release. Calls/Siri need broader testing. DiPlay does not require ADB for core audio; diagnose before adding advanced vehicle permissions.
